UN Disarmament Fellowship Program in 2003
The UN Disarmament Fellowship Program in Japan took place from 2nd to 10th of October in 2003. The participants came from 30 different countries including Asia, Africa and Central and South America. They received a briefing from Yukiya Amano, Director-General, Arms Control and Scientific Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo. In Nagasaki and Hiroshima, they had opportunities to hear atomic bomb survivors’ testimony, to visit atomic bombs related facilities such as atomic bomb museums, to listen to the lecture by the mayor of Hiroshima City, and to share perception with Japanese disarmament specialists.
