UN Disarmament Fellowship Program: Participants' Messages

“The program in Japan contributes to the whole process and scope of disarmament in the most natural way. It gives a live impression about what a catastrophe could happen within a few seconds. Japan is the greatest example of the dedication and commitment to disarmament.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki is horrifying experience that must not happen again. The suffering of people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki send a strong signal that we have to unify all efforts to prevent such a tragedy to be repeated. After visit to Japan I feel more committed to disarmament towards nuclear free world.” (Slovak participant)

“The program in Japan was well organized and very useful. It provided us with a lot of important information about the atomic bomb explosions in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. This program has made myself as a strong supporter of disarmament in particular nuclear disarmament.
The nuclear attacks on Japan were totally inhumanitarian. I feel very sorry after hearing the testimony by survivor. Japanese people are the great who ever after such tragic event gave up the idea of revenge; assembled once again in the path of development; and are now working very hard towards disarmament.” (Nepalese participant)

“After the Japan visit I am truly convinced that the atomic bombs were clearly a violation of international law. I feel more determined to work for nuclear disarmament.” (Nicaraguan participant)
